Thank you, Jonathon! Everything's cool around here. Actually, a little too cool in a literal sense. We're having the kind of summer that you'd expect in, maybe, San Francisco--only a couple sunny days, highs of 60. I'm still taking my vitamin D supplements.

As for why I haven't made a new show in several weeks, I'm in stay-at-home-dad-mode, and spending time with our daughter, plus doing other household stuff and looking for work... at this point the fuzzy calculus of cost/benefit for doing an unpaid radio gig is not what it used to be. I'm not quitting, but I am slowing down, for now, until I can figure out why I'm doing it again.

That's the best answer I can give. Does that make sense?

I'm still doing the Facebook and Twitter stuff (which I think I've seen you on there), mostly music videos these days. But they're videos I really enjoy. I usually watch three or four before deciding on the one out of that group that I'm going to post. It's usually got a good narrative to it, or sometimes really interesting or beautiful images. I've withheld posting videos for great songs, or even friends' projects, because I wasn't convinced it, as a video, was worth another person spending 3-5 minutes watching.

But, as I said last time I posted on here, I do have a show ready to record, and do hope to do it soon. Thanks again for appreciating the show and going to the trouble of saying so. It is an encouragement, so thanks! Hope you're well, too.

Hey Dave! Loyal listener here hoping everything is going OK with you. Been a while since you posted a new show and just want you to know there are people that notice when you don't. I always look forward to your selections and your views on the music. Take care, and I hope all is well with you and your family.

Thanks, Mark. As always, a fresh voice and perspective. I love "I Love the Unknown" too. Have you seen the movie Rocket Science? That, and the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" are two major hinges in that film, which is one of my favorites ever.

I have a new show, ready to be recorded, and hopefully out later in the week!

hey dave. thanks for the podcast. nothing really grabbed me this time. emanuel and the fear's "dear friend" had a charm to it. i was hoping to like clem snide's song (because i like his tune "i love the unknown") but i wasn't into it. jonna lee's "the light" is nice. and april smith's song is fun and bouncy - makes me want to grab a washboard! nothing i'd DL and put on my player though.

as always, thanks for putting the show together. even when nothing grabs me, i know the music is still good stuff (just not my bag) and i always enjoy hearing new music.

Yeah.... it seems like they are shooting themselves in the foot alright. Another attempt by those in power to try to hamper growth and change rather than nourish and support it.

There are few ways to discover new music other than sites like this - for which I am extremely grateful... For now we can look on and see what happens..

Keep up the great work! - looking forward to a new show.

Interesting. It seems like a lose/lose/lose situation for artists, blogs and fans. I wonder how much Paul McGuinness and Bono had to do with this implementation, given their statements about such things in the last year or two and their large stature in the Irish music industry.

It does seem to be part of a larger storm cloud brewing for music blogs. I hope some sort of reasonable solution comes about, maybe an easily accessible and understandable record of permissions for promotional mp3s that can be accessed by bands, record labels, bloggers and fourth parties such as IMRO or RIAA. Basically, some sort of streamlined formal legal process which doesn't impede the flow of promotional music from bands to bloggers and podcasters (who are the original online social media).

By the way, I checked the list of member labels in the PPI, and Butterfly Explosion's, Revive Records, is not on that list.

Great stuff again Dave - thank you! Great to see coverage of Butterfly Explosion.

On another note - something very interesting is kicking off in Ireland that might interest you - not sure if you have seen or heard:
