New opbmusic in-studios–Great Northern and Padre Pio
So, the bad news first. As of June 30, I’ve been laid off from OPB. There will be a lot of things I miss about working there, and doing in-studio sessions with bands is near the top of the list. I’ve had the privilege of interviewing bands and artists I wouldn’t have had access to at KPSU, and Steven Kray, our audio engineer, made the recordings sound top-notch. Also, OPB was SUPER good in how they let me go, they gave me notice of Biblical proportions (that’s 40 days), and a karaoke send-off. I would definitely take them back, if or when our economy gets its head out of its arse.
In the meantime, there’s still a few sessions in the can that will be airing this summer. Two have been posted already:
opbmusic.org/performances/104-Great-Northern
and
opbmusic.org/performances/105-Padre-Pio
I’m in the process of determining the future of this podcast, I’ll post an announcement here as soon as I’m ready. If you’re reading this, you probably listen regularly and want more, thanks for that.
Peace!

Sorry to hear the news about being laid off from OPB. They are a wonderful station and it’s a bummer you won’t be able to be there. I wish you luck in your job hunting.
On the other hand, I can’t wait to hear some new music. My ears have been missing That Sound.

Thanks, Travis! We’ll see what happens further down the road with this show, and my career.

You’ve programed my brain to want and crave new music, the kind of music that truly matters i mean.
Best wishes and luck to you and your family! Much love

Dave,
Even when you find a new gig, I do hope that you keep this one alive.
Sincerely,
Paul

I meant to post this earlier, and apologize for the delay in doing so.
First off, I know how awful it is to be laid off, and you have my deepest sympathies for that.
Secondly, the recent shows have been fabulous and I think they will make a great resume for getting future radio work.

Good to see you around here still, Beau!
Thanks, it’s been a mixed bag being laid off. The good part is how much time I’ve been able to spend with my girls the last couple of months. And I’m also still on good terms with everyone at my old job.
Hopefully I’ll get in somewhere soon, a place where I can use my talents and give people really awesome music to listen to.
Thanks again for the support!
